Nairn, Bess sign with Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan State has signed guard Lourawls Nairn and forward Javon Bess to letters of intent. The 5-foot-10 Nairn - whose nickname is "Tum Tum" - is from the Bahamas. He averaged 9.4 points and 8.0 assists as a junior, leading Sunrise Christian Academy of Bel Aire, Kan., to a 29-1 record. Keith Appling, Michigan State's current point guard, is a senior, meaning the Spartans will need someone to replace him. The 6-foot-5 Bess went to Gahanna Lincoln High School in Ohio. He averaged 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as a junior.
