(SPEAKER TOWNSHIP) -- A 40-year old Melvin man has been cleared of any criminal charges stemming from a car-pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a 13-year old girl from Peck. Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki says the final report of the fatal car accident has been reviewed by the Sanilac County Prosecutor's Office. The incident took place September 6 on Galbraith Line Road east of M-19 in Speaker Township. The mini cooper being driven by Richard Pirie struck the victim, Emily Rosenthal, as she crossed the road. The investigation revealed that Pirie was unable to see the girl due to low light conditions. Authorities say Pirie was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
