(SANILAC COUNTY) -- Sanilac County Drug Task Force Director Jim Johnson reports that residents turned in a total of 52 pounds of unwanted, unused, or expired pills during the D.E.A. sponsored Drug Take Back Day October 26. The Sanilac County Sheriff's Office drop site took in 15 pounds of unused or expired prescription drugs. Other law enforcement agencies including the Sanilac County Drug Task Force collected another 35 pounds. Coupled with the April Drug Take Back Day, over 141 pounds of unused or expired prescription drugs have been collected in the county. Residents are reminded that authorities collect unwanted or expired prescription pills year round at the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office at 65 N. Elk Street in Sandusky.
