Michigan Sugar Plant worker injured in truck accident

(SEBEWAING TOWNSHIP) -- A worker was injured at the Michigan Sugar piling grounds in Sebewaing Township after being struck by a semi truck. Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson says the mishap took place around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning. Deputies report that 63-year old Donald Albrecht of Unionville was accidentally struck by the semi driven by 56-year old Timothy Maust of Bay Port. As the semi backed up, Albrecht became pinned between the piler and semi. He was transported to Scheurer Hospital for treatment and later flown by helicopter to a Saginaw area hospital. The extent of his injuries were not reported. Sebewaing EMS and the Sebewaing Police Department assisted at the scene.
