(AREA) -- The Sandusky Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams made school history at the Michigan Cross Country Regional Finals, as both team placed 1st on Saturday at Wagener Park. Boys medal winners were Justin Campbell 5th place, Kaden Thompson 6th place, Elijah Bittner 9th place, Ethan Tubbs, Tate Larson, Justin Miller and Nick Kohn. Girls medal winners were Morgan Redman who took 3rd place, Crystal Tovar 4th place, Sami Orchard 5th place, Emily Cowley 7th place, Madison Polewach 9th place, Kaley Haupt 11th and Kaitlyn Woodward 18th place. Both the boys and girls teams will compete at the Michigan High School State Finals this Saturday at the Michigan International Speedway. The girls will run at 10 a.m. and the boys will start at 11 a.m.
The Marlette Boys Cross Country team qualified for the State Finals on Saturday at the Regional in Harbor Beach. It is the third straight year the Raider team has made it to the finals, finishing State Champion Runner-up last season. This year's team is lead by senior Eli Poth and his brother Eric Poth, who finished 3rd and 8th respectively in the Regional of over 75 runners. Marlette's Sam Sartin, Hayden Harneck, Alex Herman and Seth Ferguson also helped the Raiders reach there goal of making it to state. The finals will be Saturday at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
