(PORT HURON) -- A 39-year old Port Huron man was arraigned Sunday in connection with a shooting that took place inside a party store located at Griswold and 20th Street Friday afternoon. Port Huron Police say the incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. when the suspect, Ellis Bookrum, entered the store and approached a 27-year old Detroit area man. Brookrum allegedly produced a handgun and fired one shot at the victim, striking him in the leg. Police believe the incident was the result of an ongoing dispute between the two men. Brookrum fled the scene and was arrested a short time later. The Detroit man was treated at Mercy Hospital for his non-life threatening injury. Brookrum was arraigned on charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, CCW, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearm, and 4th offense habitual offender. He remains jailed without bond.
