ALCS: Series resumes tied at 2-2; NLCS: Back to St. Louis

DETROIT (AP) - The fifth game of the American League Championship series will take place this evening in Detroit. Last night in front of their fans the Tigers beat the Red Sox 7-3. That win evened up the best-of-seven series, which heads back to Boston for the sixth game on Saturday. Tonight's pitching matchup has a pair of 15-game winners on the mound. For the Tigers, it'll be Anibal Sanchez while the Sox counter with Jon Lester. Last night, Doug Fister got the win for the Motor City while the loser was Jake Peavy. Meanwhile, the National League Championship Series has the day off, following last night's 6-4 win for the Dodgers at home over the Cardinals. That best-of-seven series is now led by the Cards 3-2. They will attempt to wrap things up and earn a spot in the World Series when the two clubs square off Friday night once again in St. Louis. The Game 6 pitching matchup will have Clayton Kershaw going for the Dodgers against Michael Wacha (WAH'-kuh). It's a rematch of the Game 2 starters, which was won by the Cards 1-0. In taking that loss Kershaw allowed only two hits.
