JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The man who wrote two of the biggest hits for Gladys Knight and the Pips is getting an honor from his home state. Jim Weatherly wrote the tunes "Midnight Train to Georgia" and "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" - and he will be getting an award from the governor of Mississippi's office. Weatherly joins Grammy Award winning bluesman James Cotton as among the recipients for 2014. The winners will receive their awards early next year.
