UNDATED (AP) - All the teams are on the field today in the MLB playoffs. The Boston Red Sox could move on with a victory on the road in Game 3 of their series with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Detroit Tigers return home for Game 3 of their series against the Oakland A's, each team has won a game. In the National League, the series have moved to Game 4. The Pittsburgh Pirates can move on in St. Louis with a victory in their series with the Cardinals. The Los Angeles Dodgers can do the same at home in their series with the Atlanta Braves.
ATLANTA (AP) - There is one more game left on the NFL schedule this week and it's a matchup of two struggling teams. The Atlanta Falcons are two games below .500 for the first time in the Matt Ryan era, and the team has been rocked by injuries. The New York Jets are 2-2, but rookie quarterback Geno Smith shares the NFL lead with 11 turnovers, including eight interceptions. He was picked off twice and lost two fumbles last week. Kick off in Atlanta is at 8:40 p.m.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - In case you were sleeping, the Oakland Raiders beat the San Diego Chargers 27-17. The game started at 11:35pm Eastern time, to give the crew at the Oakland Coliseum more time to convert the field from Saturday's A's baseball game to yesterday's Raiders football game. Terelle Pryor threw two touchdown passes in the first quarter to spark the Raider offense. Both teams are now 2-3.
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - Thad Lewis is moving from the practice squad to starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Coach Doug Marone says on his weekly radio show that Lewis will get the start Sunday when the Bills host Cincinnati. Starter EJ Manuel is out indefinitely with a knee injury. Backup Kevin Kolb sustained a season-ending concussion. The Bills made a trade with Detroit in August to get Lewis.
LONDON (AP) - For the first time ever, a competitive soccer match will be played on the beautiful lawns of Buckingham Palace. Prince William's message to the players is---don't break any palace windows or they will have to answer to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. The game features two amateur teams, Civil Service FC and Polytechnic FC, playing in a Southern Amateur League match.
