(HURON COUNYT) -- The Huron County Sheriff's Department is investigating several turfing incidents where fields were damaged by a vehicle. The incidents took place sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. The first was reported by the Willard Sengstock farm in Bloomfield Township. The cornfield, located on Swayze Road between Minden Road and Finkel Road, had several paths cut through it with what appeared to be a light truck. Sheriff Kelly Hanson says damage could exceed $1,000. Evidence at the scene showed the suspect vehicle hit a ditch bank and got stuck. More turfing damage was discovered at a nearby black bean field on Swayze Road owned by Dennis and Marcia Karg. Deputies recovered a skid steer wheel from that field that most likely bounced out of the pickup's box as the vehicle was spinning around. A third field, on Swayze Road, containing wheat stubble was found turfed. That field belongs to Ted Rink. Anyone with information on these incidents are asked to contact the Huron County Sheriff's Office at 989-269-6500 or Huron Central Dispatch at 989-269-6421. Confidential callers may use the TIPS line by calling 989-269-2861.
