(CARSONVILLE) -- What started as the arrest of a probation absconder turned into a search and foot chase by several law enforcement agencies in Sanilac and Tuscola counties Thursday around 12:15 p.m. State Police at the Caro Post report that a trooper was set to pickup a 21-year-old Tuscola county man at a location on Main Street in Carsonville when the subject took off on foot and fled to a garage on Arthur Street locking the door behind him. While the trooper and the homeowner attempted to gain entry into the garage, the suspect exited through a side door and fled again on foot. Several other agencies responded, a perimeter was set up and an extensive search was conducted, but police were unable to locate the man. During the search, Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools and several businesses were placed on lock down as a precaution. Around 4:15 p.m. police received a call that the man had been seen walking into an apartment on Marsh Street. Troopers responded and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held in the Sanilac County jail awaiting charges of resisting and obstructing, breaking and entering, and sex offender failure to register in addition the probation violation warrant.
