(VASSAR TWP.) -- Michigan State Police troopers from the Caro Post have arrested a 24-year old man after a lengthy chase following an assault complaint on Saturday. Troopers were called to an address on Hess Road in Vassar Township around 10:30 p.m. to find a victim who had been pushed down and received an open head injury. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
Two hours later, dispatch received another call from the residence that the same suspect had returned and removed a window to gain entry. State Police troopers returned to find the suspect at the scene, and a foot chase took place through a wooded area. A State Police Canine Unit from the Flint Post arrived and tracked the suspect for over an hour. The canine eventually located the suspect, who had climbed up a tree. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Tuscola County Jail. The suspect faces charges of resisting and obstructing police, aggravated assault, and breaking and entering-illegal entry. He also had several warrants for his arrest in Tuscola County. Millington Police and Tuscola County Sheriff's Deputies assisted at the scene.
