Michigan corn organization seeking research proposals

(AREA) -- The Corn Marketing Program of Michigan is seeking innovate ideas on developing new corn markets, improve production and creating new uses for the crop. Preliminary research proposals for 2014 are due by Nov. 13. An announcement will be made in February on which projects will receive funding. Potential projects are reviewed by the group's board. Corn Marketing Program Director Jim Zook says "research is what keeps the agricultural industry moving forward." The Lansing-based organization says its purpose is to enhance the economic position of corn growers in the state by providing for the growth and expansion of the corn industry through market development, efficient production, promotion and research.
