(HURON COUNTY) -- A 17-year old Kinde boy was arrested Tuesday afternoon after taking Huron County Sheriff's deputies on a chase while driving a stolen ORV. The suspect, Shaun Nowiski, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Carpenter Road near Schott Road in Dwight Township when he failed to stop for deputies. Sheriff Kelly Hanson says the ORV headed north with speeds reaching 65 mph. Nowiski eventually stopped near Stoddard Road and gave deputies false identification. An investigation revealed that the ORV was taken without permission from a residence on Hellems Road east of Kinde. Deputies were familiar with the suspect and questioned him about a breaking and entering that took place earlier in the morning at Kent Farms on North Van Dyke. They learned that Nowiski had taken the Honda ORV from the Kent residence around midnight and drove it to Kent's farm where he forced his way into a shed and took a one-ton dually farm truck. He later returned the truck and got back onto the ORV. Nowiski was arraigned Tuesday on charges of breaking and entering, unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle and fleeing from a police officer. He remains lodged in the Huron County jail on a $20,000/10% cash bond.
