Banged-up Cabrera in Tigers' lineup against Twins

DETROIT (AP) - Miguel Cabrera felt healthy enough to stay in the lineup, giving the Detroit Tigers a big sense of relief. The Tigers batted Cabrera third and played him in his usual spot at third base Wednesday night against the Minnesota Twins. He was replaced by pinch-runner Ramon Santiago after hitting a three-run double in the eighth inning to give the Tigers a six-run lead. Cabrera aggravated a strain in his groin, abdominal and hip area when he swung and missed on a pitch Tuesday night. He walked off the field gingerly after his game-ending strikeout in a 6-3 loss to Minnesota. Tigers athletic trainer Kevin Rand said before the game that Cabrera was feeling much better Wednesday afternoon than he did Tuesday night. The reigning Triple Crown winner has been playing through a series of injuries lately, including a banged-up left knee and shin. Cabrera leads the majors in batting average and RBIs, and his 40 homers trail only Baltimore's Chris Davis.
