(GRANT TOWNSHIP) -- A man fishing in the Black River Wednesday afternoon snagged a suspicious looking object that turned out to be a pipe bomb. St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon says the man was fishing in the river near the 6800 block of Norman Road around 5 p.m. When he realized the object was a pipe bomb, he carried it to the shoulder of the road and contacted authorities. Deputies arrived on the scene and found a PVC pipe wrapped in a plastic orange juice bottle and taped with duct tape. Michigan State Police Bomb Squad members were able to disarm the pipe bomb, which contained explosive materials. The device will be examined at a lab as the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office continues their investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Steve Rickert at 810-987-1731.
