What's Happening at the Sanilac County 4-H Fair in Sandusky-Aug. 18-24

(SANDUSKY) -- The Sanilac County Fair 4-H Fair is coming to Sandusky. Daily activities, the carnival, and 4-H exhibits will be held Sunday, August 18 thru Saturday, August 24 at the fairgrounds on Dawson Street. Rising country music star, Dewayne Spaw, is back this year to perform before the Flying Star Rodeo on Friday and again before the Demolition Debry on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Gate Admission is $12 per person over the age of 2. The pay-one-price includes parking, unlimited rides, and grandstand shows. Tuesday and Wednesday are Senior Citizens' Days with $7 admission before 3 p.m. for those 60 and older. MEGA passes, which provide admission all week to the 4-H Fair and include rides, are on sale now at a cost of $55 each at the Fair office at 37 Austin Street in Sandusky.

Kicking off the week on Sunday, August 18 is the presentation of the 4-H Cloverbud Court at 1 p.m. and the annual "Cares for Kids" Benefit 4-H Auction in the Dairy Expo Center. Proceeds from the silent and live auctions help support 4-Hers. Also on Sunday is the crowning of the 4-H King, Queen, Court, and the Sanilac County Bean Queen at 3 p.m. A Gospel Sing will follow at 7 p.m. in the grandstand featuring the group "Justified."

Starting Monday, August 19, the Playworld Carnival and midway games will open each day at 1 p.m. Grampa Cratchet will be strolling the grounds and perform daily stage shows. 4-H members have worked hard through the year raising their animals ranging from guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens to goats, sheep, pigs, cattle and horses. There are also exhibit building filled with 4-H arts and crafts, photography, and wood-working.
  
Kicking off the week's grandstand events will be two sessions of Tractor Pulling on Monday beginning at 3 p.m. The bigger Truck and Tractors pull at 7 p.m. sponsored by Tri-County Equipment. 

Tuesday, August 20 there will be a Talent Contest in the Championship Barn at 4:30 p.m. and the presentation of the Sanilac County Homemaker of the Year at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., the Martin X-treme Racing Super Moto-Cross will entertain at the grandstand, sponsored by Tubbs Brothers of Sandusky and Waste Management.

On Wednesday, August 21 it's the Bump 'N Run sponsored by Lois & Company Embroidery and Dave Hall Chevy Buick.
 
Thursday, August 22 is Kids' Day from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for children 6 and under with gate admission only $5. The Pedal Tractor Pull for children ages 4-12 starts at 2 p.m. Registration starts at 1 p.m. with a $1.00 entry fee. There will be Dog Demonstrations Thursday in front of the grandstand from 1- 3 p.m. At the grandstand at 7 p.m. it will be the Figure 8 Derby  sponsored by Exchange State Bank, TNT Equipment, Cros-Lex Laundry and Tanning and Exelon.

Friday, August 23 hosts the Small Animal Silent Auction in the Poultry Barn from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and the 4-H and FFA Small Animal and Livestock Sale in the Livestock Arena beginning at 11:30 a.m. Friday night at the grandstand it's the Flying Star Rodeo, sponsored by Eastern Michigan Bank, Beta Seed, DTE Energy and Ball Equipment.

On Saturday, August 24 the Open Class Horse Show starts at 8 a.m. with the Small and Large Animal Sweepstakes in the animal arenas beginning at 10 a.m. The M/T Pocket Pullers, consisting of Stock garden tractors, Ultra-Lite tractors, Stock-Altered tractors and Multi-Motor Ultra-Lite tractors will be at the grandstand at 10 a.m. Rounding out the day Saturday is the Demolition Derby at the grandstand sponsored by Graff Chevrolet Buick and Dow AgroSciences.
