Documentary on Vassar native injured in Afghanistan showing in Vassar

(VASSAR) -- The documentary "Travis:A Soldier's Story" will be shown at the Vassar Theatre this weekend. Staff Sergeant Travis Mills, a 2005 Vassar High School graduate, was part of the 82nd Airborne and is one of only five service members to lose all four limbs in combat during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars--and survive. SSG Mills was hurt when he dropped a bag on an improvised explosive device April 10, 2012 during his third tour of duty in Afghanistan. The documentary is a true story of his life until the day everything changed. It shows his courageous fight to survive and recover for his family. SSG Mills and his wife Kelsey will be in Vassar for the event. Showings will be held at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17 and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 18.
