(HURON COUNTY) -- Voters in Huron County went to the polls Tuesday, August 6 and showed their support for the Bad Axe and Laker School Districts. The sinking fund millage proposal for the Bad Axe District passed with 516 yes to 236 no votes. The funding will be used for future site and building improvements. Elkton-Pigeon Bay Port Laker School District voters approved the renewal of the district's sinking fund millage 331-155. In Dwight Township, the 2-mill road millage renewal passed 38-16, but the proposal to increase the road millage by an additional 2-mills was defeated by 12 votes--20 yes to 32 no.
In St. Clair County, voters in the Capac School District passed their bond proposal with 458 yes to 321 no votes. The 2.52-mill tax increase will generate funds for improvements at the district. Voters passed the 18-mill renewal on non-homestead property in the Port Huron Area School District--2,716 yes to 1,585 no votes.
