Pending cases against Sara Ylen moving through court

(SANILAC COUNTY) -- The Lexington woman accused of deceiving an insurance company and the public into believing she had cancer is scheduled to appear in Sanilac County Circuit Court August 12. 38-year old Sara Ylen waived her arraignment Monday and her pretrial was adjourned until 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 12. Ylen is charged with false pretense, using a computer to commit a crime and health care fraud. In a separate case, Ylen is accused of filing a false felony report and tampering with evidence in St. Clair County. She was bound over to Circuit Court and is scheduled to appear on Monday, August 26 at 1:45 p.m. Authorities say Ylen falsely accused two men of rape last September in her Lexington home and used makeup to create what looked like bruises. The false felony report charge carries a maximum 4-years in prison, while the tampering with evidence charge carries a maximum 10-years if convicted. In November 2012, in a different case, a man convicted of raping Ylen was released from prison after nearly 10-years. New evidence showed Ylen had made false rape allegations that same year in California and the St. Clair County prosecutor's office dropped the case.
