Tim Allen speaks out on use of N-word

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Add Tim Allen to the list of white comedians who think it could be OK to use the "n-word" in a routine. The actor says in an interview in the Tampa Bay Times the euphemism "N-word," in his view, is worse than the racial slur it stands for. Allen says he thinks the criticism of non-black comedians from using the slur takes comedy a step backward - because he notes comedians like Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce used it in their acts. Allen's comments haven't exactly been well received on social networking sites. But in a statement through his spokeswoman, Allen says he didn't mean to offend anyone.
