(MARLETTE) -- A group of local sports enthusiasts, coaches and interested citizens have formed an independent committee to generate funds for a new running track at Marlette Schools. Marlette Track Coaches Chris and Cathy Storm say the surface is almost unusable and even dangerous. The Marlette Sports' Complex addition was constructed in the 1970's. School officials had set aside money for the state-of-the-art track and field facility over a number of years. Since then, the track has been used by many athletes, physical education classes, and community members. The estimated cost of the project is $200,000. Tax deductible donations may be sent to Chris and Cathy Storm at 6230 Euclid Street, Marlette, MI 48451.
