(LEXINGTON TOWNSHIP) -- The driver and passenger on a motorcycle escaped serious injury after their bike was struck from behind by an Oscoda area man, who was flown to Flint for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki says the crash took place around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday along M-25 south of County Farm Road in Lexington Township. Deputies say the motorcycle driven by a 49-year old Lexington man was traveling north on M-25 and attempted to turn left on Berrywood Lane. The vehicle behind the motorcycle, driven by the 28-year old Oscoda man, struck the motorcycle causing the bike to crash onto the ground. The vehicle then entered a ditch and struck several embankments before landing near the intersection of M-25 and Edwina Lane. The Lexington man and his passenger, a 37-year old Lexington woman, were transported to Port Huron Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The Oscoda man was later flown to Flint Hurley Hospital and remains in serious condition. Deputies say the names of those involved are being withheld pending an investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
