Sanilac County Sheriff's Deputies Rescue Two People From Capsized Sailboat

(SANILAC COUNTY) -- Sanilac County Sheriff's Deputies Thompson and Armstrong rescued two people from Lake Huron after their sailboat capsized approximately 3/4 of a mile south of the Lexington Harbor Wednesday afternoon shortly after 3 p.m. The deputies, working the Marine Division, were able to pull 23-year old Arron Ninaber and 28-year old Amy Ryan from the water. The Ontario, Canada residents were wearing life jackets. Neither reported any injuries. The vessel was turned back up right and towed to shore. Authorities say the two got caught in a severe thunderstorm, which produced high winds, hail, and heavy rain causing the small sailboat to capsize. Just prior to the incident, the National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southern Sanilac County.
