(SANDUSKY) -- WMIC 660 AM received a special tribute proclamation during its 45th Anniversary Open House Saturday, June 29 from 83rd District State Representative Paul Muxlow. The tribute was also signed by 31st District State Senator Mike Green and Governor Rick Snyder. Sanilac Broadcasting Company was founded in 1968 by brothers George and Robert Benko. WMIC AM signed on the air June 27, 1968 from 19 S. Elk Street in Sandusky, Michigan. WMIC was originally at 1560 on the AM dial where it remained until December 1987. That is when it moved to the left side of the dial on 660 AM. In 1981, the station became an affiliate of the ABC Information Network and meterorologists John McMurray and Judy Coy started to bring local weather broadcasts to listeners in 1983. WMIC 660 AM delivers local news, sports, weather and entertainment to listeners in the Thumb and Blue Water Area daily.
