(SANILAC COUNTY) -- Charlene Washkevich of the Sanilac County Sheriff's Department has been promoted to the position of Uniform Services Lieutenant. Lt. Washkevich is a 1984 graduate of Peck High School and went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Lake Superior State University in Sault Sainte Marie. She graduated from the Criminal Justice Certification Program and began her career in 1989 with the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office assigned to the Drug Task Force. Lt. Washkevich, who notably was Sanilac County's first female Deputy, Sergeant and now Lieutenant, has held many positions within the Sheriff's Office including; Special Response Team, Drug Task Force, Victim's Services, Triad, as well as a tenured D.A.R.E. Instructor. Charlene resides in the Croswell area with her husband Rich of 21-years and three children Shelby, Zachary and Logan.
Sheriff Biniecki stated, "I am very pleased with her promotion. We are not only making history with the promotion of the first female Lieutenant in the Office's history, but I am confident that her skills and abilities will only serve to assist us in moving forward in our pledge to serve the public".
