(AREA) -- State Senator Phil Pavlov of St. Clair Township is sponsoring the "Be a Senator for a Day" summer reading contest, in coordination with St. Clair County and Lapeer County libraries. The contest begins Monday, June 17 and end on August 10. The contest and the libraries' "Dig Into Reading" programs encourage students to keep their minds active and educated over the summer months. The contest is open to 1st through 5th grade students enrolled in any public, private or home-based school. Once students have completed the summer reading program, they may fill out a contest entry form at any public library branch in St. Clair and Lapeer counties. One winner from each branch will be selected to bring their parents to Lansing for a tour of the state Capitol, take part in mock committee hearings, and enjoy a pizza party with Senator Pavlov.
