Two Brown City men injured in bicycle vs. dirt bike crash

(MAPLE VALLEY TOWNSHIP) -- Two Brown City men were airlifted to Saginaw Covenant Cooper Hospital Thursday night after a bicycle collided with an ATV-dirt bike in Maple Valley Township. Sanilac County Sheriff's deputies say the collision took place just after 10 p.m. 29-year old Chris Hicks was riding his bicycle north on Maple Valley Road in the southbound lane when the head-on collision took place with a small dirt bike, driven by 33-year old Jeremie Sparrer. Deputies say there were no headlights or taillights on the dirt bike. Hicks was flown to Saginaw for treatment of serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Sparrer was transported to Marlette Regional Hospital and later airlifted to Saginaw for serious trauma. Deputies were assisted by the Brown City Police and Fire Departments and Marlette EMS.
