(PORT HOPE) -- A 19th-century lighthouse lens is moving a few miles to its former home in Michigan's Thumb as part of a settlement between the U.S. Coast Guard and a museum that possessed it for more than 25-years. The lens was removed from Huron City Museums, near Port Austin, over the weekend. The Coast Guard plans to give the lens to a group that runs the old Pointe Aux Barques lighthouse site near the tip of the Thumb. The rare lens was inside the lighthouse until 1969 and then donated to the city of Harbor Beach. In 1987, the city decided to let Huron City Museums use it. The government filed a lawsuit last year, claiming the transfer was not allowed.
