(SANILAC COUNTY) -- Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki says his department was kept busy over the Memorial Day Holiday weekend. There were 489 calls fielded at Central Dispatch. Sheriff's deputies responded to 258 of those calls, ranging from in-progress calls to assisting with Memorial Day festivities. According to Sgt. Steve McKenney, Sheriff's deputies responded to one injury accident and six property damage accidents, performed 77 traffic stops, issued 17 citations and 44 verbal warnings. There were three arrests for domestic assault, driving while license suspended and a probation violation. Sanilac County Correction Deputies booked 13 people into the jail stemming from arrests by deputies and other police agencies in the county. The Marine Division patrolled Lake Huron, including both the Port Sanilac and Lexington Harbors and responded to two boater assist calls. No water related injuries were reported and no violations or citations were issued, as the weather remained cool throughout the holiday weekend.
