(SANILAC COUNTY) -- The Sanilac County Finance and Administration Committee received an update on the Karegnondi Water Pipeline Project during their meeting Tuesday afternoon. Board members heard from Jeff Wright, the Genesee County Drain Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Karegnondi Water Project. Wright said that the project is expected to be completed by 2015 and will cost roughly $275 million. He emphasized that as much of that money as possible will be spent locally. The pipeline will pump up to 85 million gallons a day from Lake Huron for use in Genesee County and other areas, and will supply water to about 250,000 people.
