(SANILAC COUNTY) -- Five schools in Sanilac County were awarded bronze awards from U.S. News and World Report after its annual ranking of the nation's best high schools. 206 schools in Michigan were honored with 7 receiving gold medals, 68 awarded silver medals and 131 receiving a bronze medal. U.S. News researchers looked at 21,035 public high schools across the country. Rankings are based on the key principals that the school serves all of its students well and produces measurable academic outcomes to show the school is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators. Brown City, Carsonville-Port Sanilac, Deckerville, Marlette and Sandusky High Schools all received a bronze award.
