(SANDUSKY) -- The Sandusky City Council unanimously moved to begin accepting bids for the removal of several trees located at Doerr Field and Diamond Trail Park during the regular meeting Monday. About 30 trees at Diamond Trail Park and two at Doerr Field that are in danger of falling will be removed at a cost not to exceed $20,000. In other business, the council heard from Sandusky High School students Angela Lasecki and Patrick Brown. Council members approved their request to hold a fundraiser for the school's Food for Friends program. Students will be at the four corners of M-46 and M-19 collecting money during the Memorial Day weekend. Last year, the program raised enough money to purchase three truck loads of food--enough to feed 655 underprivileged families in the community.
