Bad Axe Superintendent resigns

(BAD AXE) -- The Bad Axe School board accepted the resignation of Superintendent Donald Schelke during Monday's meeting, effective July 1. The board selected current middle school Principal Greg Newland to serve as Superintendent on an interim basis. Schelke has served as the district's Superintendent for the past 3-years and has served in public education for 40-years. His career started as a teacher and principal in Cass City and continued at Deckerville Schools where he was the high school principal and Superintendent before coming to Bad Axe. Board members are expected to discuss the district's administrative positions for the 2013-2014 school year, possibly combining jobs, during a special meeting this month.
