High School Spring Sports Week of April 29

WMIC Sanilac County Baseball/Softball Tournament-Saturday, April 27
Marlette beat Sandusky 13-2
Cros-Lex beat Deckerville 16-0 (Brandon Boshaw led the way with two hits including a double. Tyler Schmidt had a home run and two RBI's. Bryce Davis was the winning pitcher.)
In the finals, Cros-Lex beat Marlette 13-1 (Tyler Schmidt was the winning pitcher, striking out nine. Boshaw had three hits.)

Sandusky beat Marlette  11-0
Cros-Lex beat Deckerville 14-3 (Megan Guitar struck out 11 and allowed four hits.)
Cros-Lex beat Sandusky in the Finals 8-2 (Guitar struck out 13 and allowed two hits. Guitar led the hitting attack with five hits including two doubles and six RBI's. Victoria Bender collected four hits, highlighted by a two run home run against Deckerville. Nicole Barth went 4 for 4 and scored five times.)

Huron County Baseball Results
Bad Axe beat Caseville in the semi's 11-1. In the finals Bad Axe beat Harbor Beach 5-1.

Monday, April 29
Peck beat Kingston 13-0 & 10-0 (Megan Pitts won the first game, Bailey Sell had 2 hits. Nikie Sheldon won the 2nd game, Sierra Johnson & Leigh Knox had triples.)
Deckerville beat Mayville  2-0 & 8-7
Sandusky defeated Memphis 10-0 & 15-3 (Courtney Franzel was the winning pitcher in the first game and Morgan Paehlig was the winning pitcher in the second game. Big hitters for the Redskins were Brooke Krueger with 2 DB's, Keri Molloy triple and a double, Kara Blank 2 DB's, Alyssa Webb 1 DB, Jenna Franzel 1DB, Jennifer Kursinsky 4 hits. Morgan Paehlig with 4 hits.)
Ubly beat Brown City  7-2 & 11-1
Bad Axe beat Cass City 15-4 & 14-4

Mayville beat Deckerville 7-3 and 5-3
Kingston beat Peck 9-3 ( Joe Barrons had 15 strikeouts for Kingston, Jacob Adams had an RBI double for Peck. In game two Peck beat Kingston 4-1. Austin Fackler was the winning pitcher. Jimmy Maitland had two hits.)
Lakers beat Vassar 7-4 and 6-4
Reese beat Bay City All Saints 6-2 & 6-5
Bad Axe beat Cass City  11-1 & 7-4
Memphis 15, Sandusky 6  (2nd game 6-6 after 5) 
Marlette & CPS split. Marlette won the first game 7-3. Dan Ricket had a double and 2 RBI for the Tigers, Anthony Kappen got the win for Marlette. In the 2nd game CPS beat Marlette 6-3. Matt Bombard was the winning pitcher for CPS.  Bombard had 2 hits, Casey Hyatt added two hits & two RBI for the Tigers.)

Cros-Lex 2, Armada 1 (The Pioneers are now 5 and 0 in league play. Sydney Shaw & Ann Sobell had goals. Falon Stocks and Marin Western had assists)

Tuesday, April 30
Harbor Beach beat Cass City  4-1 & 2-0
Cros-Lex split with Yale, winning the first game 3 to 1. Yale won the 2nd game 2-0. Brandon Boshaw was the winning pitcher striking out five and allowing 4 hits. Tyler Schmidt had 2 hits with a triple.  Nathan Guitar had a double in the 2nd game.

Cass City beat Harbor Beach  11-8 & 7-1
Cros-Lex swept Yale 9 to 3 and 3 to 1. The Pioneers are 6 and 0. In league play and 12 and 0 overall. Megan Guitar was the winning pitcher in both games. Sydney Church had 3 hits in the first game. Kylee Barrett had a Home Run.

Richmond beat Cros-Lex 3 to 1. The Pioneers suffered their first loss in league play and are now 5 and 1. Nikki Douglas scored their goal with an assist from Marin Western.

Ubly beat Montrose 10-0 & 7-4

GTC East at Verona Hills
Brown City finished first with 192. Tyler Utter shot a 43. Harbor Beach was 2nd with 197, Rece  Essenmacher shot 45. Ubly was 3rd with 204 Jon Watchowski shot 44. Sandusky shot 215 with David Ross shooting 48.
