Michigan State's Payne staying for senior season

EAST LANSING -- Michigan State's Adreian Payne has decided to stay in school, making the Spartans one of the basketball teams to beat next season. It also might make Payne a top-10 pick next year. The announcement was made Sunday just hours before the deadline for underclassmen to enter the NBA draft. Payne averaged 10.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks as a junior last season. He produced more in each category in the NCAA tournament. The 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward added a 3-point shot last season. He made 16 of 42 after connecting one of two 3-pointers during his first two years with the Spartans. Big Ten freshman of the year Gary Harris announced last week he was staying at Michigan State for his sophomore season.
