(SANDUSKY) -- The latest in digital mammography technology is now available at McKenzie Health System in Sandusky. Local women now have access to high-quality, high-resolution screenings. The Aspire digital mammography system provides enhanced image clarity enabling extraordinary detail of potential abnormalities that assist in more accurate and reliable diagnoses. Older systems use film to capture images. The new machine is all digital and provides images more quickly. Transmission of images from one physician to another is also quick and easy. According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 15 and 54, and the second cause of cancer death in women 55 to 74. Fortunately, 96 percent of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer free after 5-years. In addition to mammograms, McKenzie Health System will offer patient counseling and advice for preventative care at the Project Healthy Living Health Fair Saturday, April 27.
