(MARLETTE) -- Each year, the Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Organization recognize individuals who have provided outstanding commitment and service to hospice care. The organization developed the Dream Team Awards to celebrate hospice aides, bereavement coordinators, clinical supervisors or patient care coordinators, registered nurses, support team members, physicians, social worker/counselors, spiritual care providers/chaplains, and volunteer coordinators. Locally, Debra Schell of Sandusky earned the award for clinical supervisor. Debra has been with United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital for over 14-years. She is the nurse manager of the hospice residence and the patient care coordinator for United Hospice Service. Debra was presented the award April 11 at the MHPCO annual conference, which was held in Bay City. Joined by fellow UHS staff members, Debra was completely taken by surprise when presented with the award, as nominations are submitted anonymously.
