(MARLETTE) -- 38-year old Earl Allen Northrop, Jr. of Marlette will spend 40 to 60-years in prison after being convicted of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and second-degree child abuse. Sanilac County Circuit Court Judge Donald A. Teeple sentenced Northrop on Monday to 40 to 60-years on the first-degree CSC charges, 30 to 50-years for kidnapping, 19 to 35-years for the second-degree CSC charges, and 4 to 15-years on the child abuse charge. The convictions resulted from evidence presented during Northrop's trial in February that he had duct-taped, gagged, threatened and committed sexual acts involving a relative of his who was a minor between the ages of 13 and 16. Northrop was given credit for 419 days served during sentencing. Prosecutor James V. Young was pleased with the sentences. He hopes it assures victims of sexual abuse in Sanilac County and elsewhere, that they will be listened to and supported.
