(PORT HURON TOWNSHIP) -- The Salem, Oregon woman accused of dumping her mother's dead body next to a dumpster in Port Huron Township was arraigned Wednesday in St. Clair County District Court in Port Huron. Sheriff Tim Donnellon says 49-year old Kelly Rhodes stood mute on a charge of removing a dead body without Medical Examiner permission, which is a 1-year misdemeanor. Rhodes is accused of leaving the body of her 89-year old mother, Mary Gertrude Grenia, behind the Goodwill store. The body was found on March 12. A cause of death has not been determined. Sheriff Donnellon says a citizen tip led detectives to Rhodes, who was staying with relatives in Belleville, Illinois. Rhodes remains jailed on a $10,000 cash/surety bond. Her next court date has been set for April 15 at 1 p.m.
