(SANDUSKY) -- Sandusky residents could be allowed to own chickens on their property under a proposal being considered by the city's ordinance committee. City council members voted to allow the measure to move on to the ordinance committee during their meeting Monday night. The ordinance would let property owners in the city of Sandusky own a limited number of hens, as long as they are kept in cages.
In other business, the Sandusky City Council authorized the 2013 Miss Sanilac County 5K Run through town, set to take place May 25th. Council members also approved a resolution for "inter-local cooperation, collaboration, and consolidation" between the cities of Sandusky and Brown City. The agreement allows the cities to share equipment and resources.
The Sandusky City Council meets the first and third Mondays of each month.
