(AREA) -- Three thumb-area students had the opportunity to meet Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson while attending the Michigan Driver and Traffic Safety Association's annual conference Saturday. The presentation is held to inform and motivate driver education instructors and local and state agencies to go above and beyond in preventing teen fatalities due to traffic accidents. High school sophomores Nathan Stone from Carsonville-Port Sanilac and Devin Adams from Landmark Academy joined St. Clair County Community College student Jeremy Grzech for the event at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant. Grzech spoke on his experience as a survivor of a car accident that claimed the life of one other teen and left him with life sustaining brain injuries. Over 150 people attended the conference, including driver education instructors and representatives from several local and state agencies.
