(PIGEON) -- State Representative Terry Brown of Pigeon says that three entities in his district are the recipients of grant money from the state. The Huron Community Fair Association will receive up to $40,000, the city of Vassar will receive $1,500 and the Huron Intermediate School District will receive $3,000. Representative Brown says these awards will help improve the already great programs and communities we have in the Thumb. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is providing $20,000 with an available match of another $20,000 to the Huron Community Fair Association for the installation of RV pedestals and related electrical work at the fairgrounds in Bad Axe. The grants for Vassar and the Huron ISD come from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and will be administered by the Huron County Economic Development Corporation. Vassar will use the $1,500 grant to put on a free summer concert series, while the Huron ISD will direct the $3,000 grant toward the Embracing Our Earth Festival. Representative Brown serves the 84th House District, which includes Huron and Tuscola counties.
