(SANILAC COUNTY) -- The Sanilac County Finance and Administration Committee met Tuesday afternoon. The committee received a monthly update on the status of the jail project from Jail Observation Representative Loton Eastman. Eastman reported that the project is about seventy-five percent complete and should be finished by the end of July. In other business, the committee approved the acquisition of a radio tower for use by Sanilac County Central Dispatch. The tower is being donated to the county by Thumb Cellular. Committee members also approved a request to purchase new equipment for processing concealed weapons permits. Officials are seeing a spike in the amount of permits being processed and can no longer keep up with demand. The new equipment would make it easier and more cost efficient to process CCW cards. The measures head to the full Board of Commissioners for consideration next Tuesday.
