(SANILAC COUNTY) -- The Sanilac County Sheriff's Office recently recognized outstanding achievement during its annual Awards Ceremony. The ceremony honored deputies for their outstanding performance, courage and acts above and beyond the call of duty for 2012. The presentation included two Life Saving Awards, twenty-eight Meritorious Service Awards and nineteen Honorable Mention Awards. The Awards Committee also selected one recipient from each Division to receive Deputy of the Year Awards. The 2012 Dispatcher of the Year was awarded to Dispatcher/Director Dawn Cubitt. The Corrections Deputy of the Year was awarded to Sergeant Nichole Keinath and the Uniform Services Deputy of the Year was Detective Mark Ruggles. Sheriff Garry Biniecki presented the 2012 Sheriff's Distinguished Deputy Award to Dispatch Director Dawn Cubitt for her outstanding leadership in marketing, directing and implementing the 9-1-1 communications millage, assisting in the fulfillment of the Federal mandate to convert to a narrow band radio system, while at the same time managing Central Dispatch on an ever tightening budget. Sheriff Biniecki stated, "I want my deputies to hear from me and our staff, thank you for a job well done! It is important to honor their dedication and to show appreciation for the difference they make in the lives of our citizens."
