(SANILAC COUNTY) -- The Sanilac County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a vehicle from a residence in the 4100 block of S. VanDyke Road in Marlette Township sometime between 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday. The 29-year old resident informed deputies that she arrived home and found the 2002 4-door Ford Explorer, beige in color, missing from the driveway. The vehicle had three aluminum rims, one black rim, pink windshield wipers and a John Deere sticker in the front windshield. The woman said the vehicle had a half tank of fuel. On Tuesday afternoon, around 2:30 p.m., a citizen in the area of Montgomery and Cade Roads contacted Sanilac Central Dispatch to report a Ford Explorer that was found with extensive damage. Troopers from the Caro State Police Post confirmed that the damaged vehicle was the one reported stolen.
