(BAD AXE) -- Five illegal aliens were taken into custody last Friday evening after a routine traffic stop in Huron County. Bad Axe Police made the stop around 6:30 p.m. for defective equipment on a Chevrolet van. The officer noticed several Mexican citizens inside the van, two of them seated on the floor. The driver, a 56-year old Marlette woman, advised the officer that she was taking the people in her van shopping. She said the people were employed by a dairy farm in the Parisville area and call her when they needed a ride. Four of the people were able to produce Mexican ID cards. One of them had no identification. It was learned that all five were in the country illegally. After being transported to the Huron County jail, the five illegal immigrants were turned over to federal agents at a pre-arranged meeting place in Port Sanilac.
