(BAD AXE) -- The Huron Community Fair Association has been awarded a Capital Improvement Grant. The grant program, offered by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, is designed to assist in the promotion of building improvements or other capital improvements on county fairgrounds within the state. The Huron County Fair is entering its 145th year. State Senator Mike Green of Mayville says the improvements will help continue the tradition of agriculture competition and family-friendly entertainment for many years to come. The Huron Community Fair Association in Bad Axe will receive $20,000 for the installation of recreational vehicle pedestals and related electrical work. Fairs are required to provide a dollar-for-dollar cash match. In November, the association wrote and presented a compelling grant proposal to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development explaining why these improvements were essential and was chosen among dozens of applicants to receive the prestigious grant.
