Attempted semi truck theft suspect arraigned

(LAMOTTE TOWNSHIP) -- The 18-year old Kinde man accused in the attempted semi truck theft at Scott's Quik Stop Monday morning remains jailed on a $25,000 bond. Jacob Joseph Juzek was arraigned on charges stemming from the incident and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary exam in Sanilac County District Court on Tuesday, February 5. Sheriff's deputies were alerted of the situation just after 6 a.m. when the driver of the semi truck owned by Jensen Bridge and Supply of Sandusky, David Schmidt, noticed the truck moving as he checked out inside the business located at M-46 and M-53 in Lamotte Township. Schmidt was able to run outside and open the door to the semi before Juzek could take off. Further investigation revealed that Juzek has taken his grandmother's vehicle without permission and crashed it into a ditch on M-53 near Deckerville Road before getting a ride to Scott's Quik Stop. Deputies were informed that the Kinde man was planning on driving to Florida.
