(HURON COUNTY) -- A 36-year old Deckerville man remains jailed in Huron County after deputies received a call regarding a suspicious man from a concerned resident. Shortly before Noon Wednesday, the homeowner in the area of Carpenter and Learman Roads reported that a man came to her house wanting to buy gas. She became suspicious when the subject went through her yard and around her shed. The Verona Township woman witnessed the man leave in a black Ford Taurus after she told him she didn't have any gas to give him. Sgt. Schember found the suspect vehicle minutes later at a residence located on Rapson Road near Carpenter in Lincoln Township. As he approached the unoccupied home, the suspect came outside and told him he was in need of gas. The suspect admitted that he didn't know the homeowners. Sgt. Schember found a baggie of marijuana on the Deckerville man, which was believed to have been on him when he entered the house. The man was booked into jail for illegally entering the home and possession of marijuana. Formal charges are expected at arraignment. Sheriff Kelly Hanson urges residents to secure their homes, vehicles and out buildings at all times and report suspicious activity to authorities.
